One of the world’s market leaders in providing Support Services to organizations operating in remote locations is currently seeking an experienced and proactive Business Unit Controller. This role will be based in Dubai.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, you will be expected to provide overall financial guidance to the Business Unit, provide transparency on the financial results by defining KPIs and monitoring the financial reporting of Business Units.
Responsibilities:
- Review P & L statements and build controls to ensure proper capture of income and costs.
- Monitor capital employed: fixed assets, inventory, prepayments, accounts receivable.
- Coordinate invoicing and reporting activities.
- Regular visits to the Business Unit’s operational areas and preparation of follow-up reports and action lists.
- Perform Gross Profit checks between inventory system and finance system and reconcile the variances.
- Check the Business Unit’s inventory system for open purchase orders, goods in transit, invoices, credit notes and negative stock-levels.
- Reconcile the balance sheet accounts relating to the specific Business Unit.
- Assist in preparation of bids, budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with the yearly statutory closing.
- Liaise with customer’s auditors if special audits are being performed.
- Monitor all internal recharges on a transparent and reliable basis.
- Ad-hoc reports as requested by the Business Unit Director.
- Regular visits to all operations in Afghanistan.
Participate in the following:
- Monthly Business Review meeting – prepare and present Business review and forecasts
- Regular credit meetings with BUDs (at least every 4 weeks)
Requirements:
- Professional degree in Business Administration and/or internationally recognized Accountancy qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position or equivalent expertise in Finance and Controlling preferably in a context of government contracts / defense budgets.
- High level of analytical skills
- Fluent English communication skills. (English must be a native language)
- Preference will be given to US nationals
- Willingness to travel to Afghanistan and other troubled regions
